(1) How does a debit card differ from a credit card?
Debit cards are a convenient non-cash, non-check way to pay for everyday purchases with money you have in your checking account. Unlike a credit card, you do not need to establish a line of credit, nor is there a finance charge or service fee with your Baylake Bank debit card. However, for some purchases you may prefer to delay billing or spread out payments over time. That is when you may elect to use a credit card.
(2) What is the cost of a debit card?
A Baylake Bank debit card is available without cost and there is no activity fee. So, not only will you be saving time at check out, you will be saving money on the cost of purchasing checks. That’s right...the more you use your Baylake Bank debit card, the more it “pays” you!
(3) How do I get a debit card?
Almost any U.S. citizen age 18 or over with a personal checking account at Baylake Bank can be issued a debit card. A business debit card is also available. Contact a Personal Banker for more information or request a debit card now.
(4) Are there daily withdrawal limits on my debit card?
Yes, withdrawal limits have been established for your protection.
The daily preapproved purchase limit on a Baylake Bank Debit card is $1,000 (signature based)* and if approved by the bank (online) per day, not to exceed the available balance.
If you use it at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) or use your Personal Identification Number (PIN) at a merchant, the limit is $600*.
*If in the rare instance that a bank network connection becomes temporarily unavailable, daily limits are automatically lowered for your protection to: $500 for the debit card (signature based) and $300 for ATM or PIN purchase daily maximum.
(5) Do I need a separate ATM card for use at ATM’s?
Although you may elect to keep your existing ATM card, with a Baylake Bank debit card there is no need to have both. The ATM features of your debit card act exactly like your present ATM card.
(6) Can I use my debit card while traveling?
Your debit card may be used wherever VISA is accepted, however to ensure your card will be accepted it is important to indicate if you will be traveling out of the state or out of the country. Please call Processing at 1-800-267-3610 to add a travel notice to your card to alert our fraud monitoring systems for uninterrupted service.
