Tall Ship Festival Continues Taking Shape
Excitement is growing as the dates get closer for the Baylake
Bank Tall Ship Festival!
So far, the ship line-up for the festival includes Appledore IV,
S/V Denis Sullivan, Hindu, Brig Niagara, and Windy.
• Appledore IV is an 85' gaff rigged schooner which
serves as a floating classroom focused on marine science and
• Denis Sullivan is a 137' schooner and Wisconsin's
• Hindu is a 79' schooner which has lived many lives
including that of serving as a pleasure yacht, sailing to
trade spices in India, watching the coast as a World War II
defense ship, and operating as a charter vessel.
• The 198' Brig Niagara is a reconstruction of the warship
aboard which Oliver Hazard Perry won the Battle of Lake Erie
during the War of 1812.
• Windy is 148' sparred length, and is the first certified
four-masted traditional sailing vessel built in the U.S.A.
Festival dates are August 16-18, 2013 from 9am-5pm, plus
riverfront concerts Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm-9pm.
Tickets are $12 for adults, and $10 for children ages 5-12 as
well as seniors 62 and over. The tickets provide one-day
admission to the whole event, which includes ship tours, family
activities, educational programming, a vendor fair, food court,
and beer garden. Tickets for the evening concerts are $5.
Additionally, 75 to 90 minute day sails aboard Appledore IV,
Hindu, or Windy, are available for $60. And for those who want a
more extended sailing experience, there are sails from Sturgeon
Bay to Green Bay on Appledore IV, Denis Sullivan, Brig Niagara,
and Windy. The cost is $275 for these approximately 6 hour
trips. Group tours are also available -- a great option for
taking clients or employees out for a special event!
Tickets for the sailing excursions are on sale now. Festival
