Recognizing the impact of sharing a common goal, learning to
inventory the resources available around you, and understanding
how each team member affects the outcome of a project were
common themes of an all-staff educational and training day
attended by Baylake Bank employees recently. They were also
lessons put directly into practice that resulted in raising more
than $12,800 for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
During the past several months, Baylake Bank employees organized
and successfully implemented 22 different fundraising events
with the support of customers, community, and local businesses.
The events were held throughout the bank’s multi-county service
area in support of an employee selected service project that was
part of the company’s 2012 Sales & Service event, Reaching New
Heights. The efforts not only raised awareness for Children’s
Hospital of Wisconsin, but a portion of the money raised has
been designated to the hospital’s Hot Unit in honor and memory
of Bo Johnson. Bo was a Door County boy whose battle with
leukemia inspired the community, and whose message of kindness
and hope touched people across the state and beyond.
According to Denise Hajos, Fundraising Manager for Children’s
Hospital of Wisconsin, approximately 600 children are treated
for cancer each year at the hospital, and they have an oncology
group in Green Bay that works closely with the hospital’s main
campus in Milwaukee. “We are doing a better job each year curing
children with cancer… and helping those who are living with the
after-effects of treatment to have a better future,” Hajos said.
“Thank you (Baylake) for all your efforts and for making such a
tremendous difference.”
With premier programs for congenital heart defects and heart
disease in children, pediatric bone marrow transplantation, pain
management in children from infants to adolescents, and other
standard-setting specialties, the pediatric subspecialists,
specialists, and pediatricians of Children's Hospital of
Wisconsin deliver outstanding pediatric care to the children in
our region.
“We have a lot to celebrate as a company. I am extremely proud
of our team of employees and truly touched by their hard work
and the generous contributions they make to each other, their
communities, and to great causes like Children’s Hospital of
Wisconsin,” said Robert Cera, Baylake Bank President and CEO.
