Maxwelton Braes Golf Course in Baileys Harbor Set to Open This Month
May 7,
2010--PGA Golf Professional Paul Becker has
signed a lease to operate Maxwelton Braes Golf Course this summer. Becker
entered into agreement with Baylake Bank, and assumed day-to-day management
responsibilities for the course as of May 5, 2010. He anticipates opening the
course for play within the next week or so.
Originally from Door County, Becker was most recently part owner, general
manager, and PGA golf pro at Hidden Glen Golf Club in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. In
this role, he created, developed, and implemented a comprehensive plan for
Hidden Glen, the first new private golf club in the greater Milwaukee area in
over 30 years. He has also served as Director of Golf for Blackwolf Run and
Whistling Straights in Kohler, Wisconsin; and Assistant Executive Director of
the Wisconsin State Golf Association; and has extensive additional golf course
management experience.
“Baylake Bank is proud to have someone of Paul Becker’s caliber to maintain and
operate this historic piece of Door County. We are confident in Paul and his
ability to enhance the course – which is terrific both for local golfers, and
for potential buyers who are interested in purchasing the property,” said Rick
Hearden, Baylake Bank Senior Vice President.
Becker is a graduate of Arizona State University and was elected to Class ‘A’
membership with the PGA of America in 1985. He was awarded the Merchandiser of
the Year Award in Wisconsin in 1992 and 1993, and has won the WPGA Match Play
Championship, along with several other WPGA tournaments. He is married and has
two grown children, with his family roots in the Baileys Harbor area.
