Our local chapter volunteered to help rebuild and paint fire stations in hurricane stricken areas of New Orleans, where I participated with a team at Engine House No. 33. The long-term destruction from Hurricane Katrina is still evident, but I am so grateful to have been part of the rebuilding efforts and the city’s spirit of perseverance and hope.”
